Camping Table Test 2026 – Test Winners Compared & Buying Guide

In 2024, promobil tested twelve camping tables in three categories. The Variety L won the roll-top table category – praised above all for its quick setup from just three parts. 70 × 120 cm for four people, infinitely height adjustable from 51 to 72 cm.

The roll-top table with aluminium top – the stable all-rounder

On a roll-top table with aluminium top, the tabletop of aluminium slats rolls up and the frame folds separately. The advantage: a slim pack size and an easy-to-clean, stove-friendly surface.

The ultralight folding table – when every gram counts

Minimal weight, slim pack size: the tabletop detaches and rolls up into a narrow roll that straps to the outside of your bike, motorbike or backpack.

The uquip Liberty M weighs 1,080 g, packs down to 58 × 8 × 8 cm and takes up to 30 kg. Bonus: a nine men's morris board is printed on the back of the tabletop. Important: the fabric cover with integrated aluminium panels is not suitable for camping stoves.

The side table – small & always with you

You don't always need a big table. As a surface next to your camping chair for drinks, snacks or your phone, a compact side table does the job.

At 800 g, the uquip Handy is the smallest table in the range – folding aluminium top, height-adjustable legs, pack size 42 × 10 × 10 cm, takes up to 30 kg. Ideal as a second table next to the Liberty or Variety.

Stability on uneven ground

Campsites are rarely flat. Separately adjustable legs – ideally infinitely adjustable – make the difference between "wobbles all the time" and "stands firm". The Variety L and the Groenberg Skal bamboo folding table both have infinitely adjustable legs.

Table height & height adjustment

Eating in a camping chair, playing games with the kids, coffee in a lounge chair – those are different heights. A height adjustable camping table adapts: the Variety M from 46 to 72 cm, the Variety L from 51 to 72 cm, both infinitely. The Liberty tables have a fixed height (M: 41 cm, L: 65 cm). That way the table height can also be matched to the seat height of uquip's comfort camping chairs.

Pack size: does the table fit your setup?

Handy: 42 × 10 × 10 cm, 800 g. Skal: suitcase-style with carry handle, 9.8 kg. Boks M: 60 × 40 × 6 cm, very flat.

Load capacity: 30 kg is a realistic figure

Pans, food, drinks – it adds up faster than you'd think. All uquip models covered here take up to 30 kg. promobil also considers 30 kg a realistic figure in its test. Important when cooking: only put a camping stove on a heat-resistant top – at uquip, that means the Variety.

Tabletop material: aluminium, fabric + aluminium or bamboo?

Aluminium (Variety M/L): easy to clean and stove-friendly. Fabric cover with aluminium panels (Liberty M/L): very light, but not suitable for camping stoves. Bamboo (Skal, Boks): homely and pleasant to the touch – but heavier and more comfort-oriented.

Extras that matter day to day

Mesh shelf (Variety M/L) – ideal for kitchen bits and spices. Detachable roll-up top (Liberty) – makes transport easier. Integrated bottle openers (Skal) – underrated until you need them. Windshield function (Boks) – stands on its side as a windshield. Board game on the back (Liberty) – just flip it over for games night.

Groenberg Skal – bamboo folding table

Solid bamboo top (70 × 100 cm), folds into a suitcase, infinitely height adjustable, extra-wide feet, two integrated bottle openers, carry handle. 30 kg load capacity, 9.8 kg.

Groenberg Boks Table – Eurobox table

Sits on the Eurobox as a lid – unfold the stainless steel legs and it becomes a freestanding table. Only 6 cm flat when stowed. Stands on its side as a windshield. In S (40 × 30 cm) and M (60 × 40 cm).
